Floyd Mayweather Jr. made a successful return via his fight with Juan Manuel Marquez. It was a good 12 round boxing bout.
My dad was right when he told me before that in a match between a brawler and a boxer, the boxer usually emerge as a winner.
Watching the match, I can not help but to feel for Juan Manuel Marquez. Honestly, I believe he has shown more desire to win the match than Mayweather. Floyd Mayweather’s grin after receiving some punches from Marquez was annoying. Mayweather was equipped with psychological arsenal and he was really fast. Marquez on the other hand never gave up and has displayed a warrior’s heart up to the last minute of the game.
Floyd Mayweather is undoubtedly a strong force to beat.
No wonder Manny Pacquiao is giving a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight a lot of thinking.
Another Filipino is making name in the field of boxing … his name is Nonito Donaire a.k.a. The Filipino Flash.
Honestly, although he is the current IBF and IBO flyweight champion, I have not seen any of his fight yet. I have not even heard of his name from my dad who is a huge boxing fan. Perhaps, Manny Pacquiao’s popularity overshadowed all other Filipino boxers’ achievements.
I only came to know about the existence of a Nonito Donaire on some promotions for his Araneta Coliseum fight on April 19, 2009 tagged as The Flash and the Furious.
From what been told about his humble beginning, I can sense that he has the making another hero for the Filipino people here and around the the world. I admire how he openly discusses the hardship of life he experienced prior to moving to United States: how he has been bullied by other kids and how he cried at night because of self-pity. His disclosures make him a real person that people can relate with. I just hope his future successes won’t turn him into a monster. We have a very good way of putting it in Filipino … “huwag naman sana siyang malunod sa isang basong tubig.”
Mind you, aside from his’ story there are two more things about him that capture people’s attention: his good accentuation and sense of fashion.
Move over Pacquiao, Donaire got good English … accentuation-wise and grammar-wise. J . Honestly, I marvel on how Donaire dress up. I have never imagine boxers could have strong sense of fashion. I saw him in coat and tie and he looks good. I saw him in a long sleeves and Palos hat and he was flamingly hot. I can bet you a good some of moneythat if he wins today … an offer to make movie or tv series will come his way. Who wanna bet against my fearless forecast?
But the question that needs to be answered now is … will he be the next Manny Pacquiao?
I am praying hard that he wins today not just because he is a Filipino. But more than anything, I want him to win so he can continue his inspiring life story. Do I want him to be another Manny Pacquaio ??? Of course not! Who wants another monster? I want him to be just himself … a Nonito Donaire. I just hope he can keep his feet on the ground. I think that will be his toughest challenge to remain a source of inspiration to the Filipino people… and he can not do it if he will be another person of greed.
If you have not seen any Nonito Donaire fight yet. You can view the attached youtube below, so you can appreciate why he was named The Filipino Flash.
Manny Pacquaio retracted his deal with ABS CBN after Solar Sports and GMA Network showed firm decision to use legal means to stop him and his greedy plan.
Okay, he apologized to the public. But I don’t think he deserves to be praised for his courageous act to admit his fault. Why? Because short after admiting his fault, he then accused ABS CBN of starting it all. He even claimed that he was spoon-fed by ABS CBN on what he has to say.
OMG! This guy has a serious problem with his integrity. My dad was right for discouraging me to be a boxer. It surely can make you a loony.
Please see below the link on Manny Pacquaio’s interview regarding his coming back to Solar Sports and GMA Network.
Manny Pacquiao made another boo-boo this week when he announced the plan of giving the right-to-air his fight with Ricky Hatton to ABS-CBN.
Solar Entertainment claimed that they still have an existing contract with the People’s Champ and will use all the legal means to stop Manny Pacquiao from continuing his plan. On the other hand, Manny Pacquiao claimed that Solar Entertainment failed to pay him appropriately thus want a way-out from his contract with Solar Entertainment.
From my own point of view, it is not much importance whether Solar Entertainment or Manny Pacquiao is the one telling the truth. What disgusted me is that Manny Pacquiao was too insensitive to ever plan to sell the right-to-air his fight to the rival of the network from which he is still an exclusive contract of. Is he ever thinking? Or has he become that greedy now and cares no more about business ethics?
What will he do with all those money? Is money more important than his reputation?
Sad but true, money can buy you a lot of things, but not DELICADEZA!
Shame on you, Money Pacquiao.
I hope Ricky Hatton wins and bring back Manny’s feet back to the ground.
